Burt Steel was started in 1945 by Albert Burt and his son Raymond after Raymond's return of duty in the second world war. 

 The company originally specialized in boiler fabrication and repair.  The company for the last thirty years has specialized in the fabrication of custom steel systems for large buildings and shopping centers.

The companies are currently operated by Raymond's sons Raymond Jr. ( Bo ) Burt and Hampton ( Sonny ) Burt.
